Feeding Southwest Virginia presented a $250,000 grant to Henry County Food Pantry in Bassett. The funds are made available through Feeding
America to help the pantry acquire nutritious foods. The funds will also help the Henry County Food Pantry onboard a full-time staff member, expand
their distribution of fresh produce through local partnerships, and participate in a home delivery service. Additionally, the pantry looks to improve the
facility over a 3-year period. Current data shows that 1 in 6 neighbors and 1 in 4 children face hunger in Virginia. Contributions and donations like these
help ensure that no one goes hungry. Â With help from the community the River 953 begins its own fight against hunger with the annual Camping for
Hunger Campaign which opens in November.
