Fire Destroys Linden Home

17 April 2018 News

At 5:20 p.m. on Sunday, April 15th, Warren County Fire and Rescue Units were dispatched for a reported house fire at 622 Brandy Road of the Apple Mountain West subdivision in Linden.  The home’s occupant reported a fire on the rear deck of the house via 911. Fire and Rescue units arrived on the scene to find a single story, single family home with fire consuming the rear deck, first floor, and roof.

Firefighters quickly verified that the occupant had escaped on his own, and then began extinguishing the fire.  It took firefighters from six county companies approximately 30 minutes to bring the fire under control; firefighters remained on the scene for several hours afterwards ensuring the fire and hot spots were fully extinguished.  The Rappahannock Electric Cooperative responded and secured the electric power to the residence as well.

The fire is being investigated by Warren County Fire and Rescue’s Fire Marshal’s office.  The male occupant was displaced as a result of the fire, and has been left with only the clothes he had on; he is receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. There were no reported injuries to firefighters or the occupant.  The fire caused an estimated $280,000 in property and contents damages.
