Frederick County Authorities announced the funeral procession for Frederick County Fire and Rescue Chief Chester Lauck is today May 1.

Pieces of firefighting apparatus from all Frederick County Fire stations and surrounding jurisdictions are expected to start lining up as early as 8 a.m. near and around the Winchester Church of God on North Frederick Pike.

At various times today adjustments will be made to normal traffic patterns and flow.

The procession will include numerous vehicles and will move so all vehicles can remain together.

All other traffic will be stopped and remain stopped until the procession passes completely.

The entire procession will travel at a reduced speed in all locations.

No traffic will be allowed to pass or ride alongside the procession.

Route 522 North will have the right lane closed from Indian Hollow Road past the Winchester Church of God from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The procession will leave the church traveling to Shenandoah Memorial Park starting at 1 p.m.

This will cause slow moving traffic on Routes 522, 37 and 11.

Once the procession begins Papermill Road will be closed between the roundabout and Route 522 and remain closed until after the graveside service.

As the procession rolls intersections and on-ramps will be shut down with no movement allowed.

There will be police vehicles in place sitting in the middle of all affected intersections and ramps.

Authorities ask that you not attempt to go around the vehicles or back down any ramp or travel the wrong way.

Motorists need to take alternate routes such as Cross Over Boulevard in place of Papermill Road during the closure.

Should you encounter the procession please take a moment to show respect.
