Frederick Committee Recommends Assistant Fire Chief
In a Friday (2/8/2019) meeting, Frederick County’s Human Resources Committee recommended that the Board Of Supervisors create two new positions for the county’s upcoming 2020 budget: a Purchasing Manager for the finance department, and an Assistant Fire Chief.
The Purchasing Manager’s salary would be between $69,000 and $111,000, while the Assistant Fire Chief’s position would cost the county between $90,000 and $117,000. The Assistant Fire Chief would be second in command of the Department, and would take the lead in the absence of the Fire Chief. In its request for the new position, the Fire Department stated that the assistant chief would allow for improved communication and interaction with the Volunteer Companies, and insure consistency in policies and decisions within the department. The Board of Supervisors will discuss the Human Resource’s Committee’s recommendation as part of its general budget process; it will hold its final budget work session on March 13th, and adopt the budget in April after a public hearing.
