Frederick County Administrator announces retirement

Frederick County Administrator Kris Tierney has announced his retirement effective July 1.

Tierney began his career with Frederick County in Nov. 1988 holding a number of positions which eventually led to County Administrator which he has held since 2017.

He has also held a position with the Shenandoah Valley Battlefield National Historic District Commission leading to an appointment from the Secretary of the Interior to serve on the Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historic Park Advisory Commission.

He also coordinated the creation of the Lake Holiday Sanitary District securing bond financing through the Virginia Resource Authority funding reconstruction of the lake’s dam spillway.

Along with many other accomplishments in his 33 year career with the County.
