Frederick County Board of Supervisors Schedule Public Hearing on Elementary School
8 August 2017 News
The Frederick County Board of Supervisors has planned a public hearing for August 9, 2017 to hear residents input on the construction of a 12th elementary school at Snowden Bridge. The hearing is scheduled to begin at 7:00pm in the County Administration Building at 107 N. Kent Street. According to the county’s Public Information Officer, Karen Vachhio, a vote is expected to take place following the hearing.
The main focal point of the hearing is for the public to give input as to whether the county should appropriate the $28.5 million for construction of the elementary school. In April, the Board of Supervisors voted to consider a future appropriation of up to $27 million to construct the school. School Board officials have talked about ways they can reduce the cost for the school including smaller classrooms and cheaper materials.
