Frederick County Event Center Closer to New Permit
A Frederick County event center is one step closer to being able to operate under new permit requirements.
The Landfall Lodge, a property of about 188 acres at 350 Chestnut Grove Road, hosts events including business meetings, weddings, reunions, and charity events. The lodge was informed this year that it was in violation of a county ordinance passed in May of 2018, which requires special event centers in rural areas to obtain a conditional-use permit. The Frederick County Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval of Landfall Lodge’s CUP last Wednesday (8/7/2019); the permit would limit events there to 250 people, limit special event traffic to its main entrance only, and mandate that special events conclude by midnight. The lodge’s permit request will go before the Frederick County Board of Supervisors on September 11, 2019.
