Frederick County Will Hold Hearing on Clorox Facility

14 April 2019 Frederick County News

The Frederick County Board of Supervisors has agreed to set a public hearing on an amendment to the county’s Comprehensive Plan that would allow Clorox to build its new manufacturing facility in the area.

The decision was made Wednesday (4/10/2019) in a 4-3 vote, and came more than a month after Governor Northam first announced the Fortune 500 company’s interest in the area. Some Clear Brook-area residents have expressed worries that the cat litter manufacturing facility could cause traffic, pollution, and lower home values. Supervisor J. Douglas McCarthy said Wednesday that he was concerned that the Governor and planners knew about the project before local leaders, and felt the county was being strong-armed by state-level “political machinations.”
