Frederick County Proposed Water and Sewer Fee Increase
16 May 2017 News
Frederick County residents could see their base and consumption fees for water and sewer services rise. The Frederick County Sanitation Authority proposed the increase after a May 9 meeting where the fiscal year 2018 budget was discussed. Residents will have a chance to voice their opinions on the matter at a June 20 public hearing. During that meeting, the budget and rates will be adopted. The meeting is set to be held at 315 Tasker Road and to begin at 5:00pm
The current base rate for water and sewer services is $58.01 over a two month billing period. The purposed increase would be a 4% increase for the next three years.
Officials have expressed an interest to find a lower increase for residential customers. Commercial industries will see an increase of anywhere from 7% to 30%.
The proposed increases are largely in part due to a debt the Sanitation Authority has accumulated.
