Frederick EDA Watching as General Assembly Convenes

9 January 2019 Frederick County News

Frederick County’s Economic Development Authority voted late last week to send its legislative priorities to the Virginia General Assembly, which convenes for its 2019 session today (1/9/2019).

The unanimous approval from the EDA came Thursday (1/3/2019); among its top priorities are improving transportation to stimulate the economy and planning ahead to build a skilled workforce. The EDA also highlighted the need to increase funding for organizations including the Commonwealth Opportunity Fund and the New Economy Workforce Credential Grant. Executive Director Patrick Barker said yesterday that as the 2019 session progresses, the EDA will get updates from the Economic Developers Association and react to bills as they come forward.
