Frederick Schools Offering New, Modern Lunch Option
Frederick County’s three high schools are launching a new lunch option for students.
The school system’s goal is to offer additional fresh, healthy food in a setting similar to popular, fast-casual restaurants that appeal to young diners. The new Café+Teria concept was implemented at Millbrook High School on May 6, 2019. It will be launched at James Wood High School on May 13 and Sherando High School on May 20. Students selecting this meal option will be able to build a nutritious meal by picking ingredients in four steps: a base of grain, salad or wrap; a protein such as chicken or ground beef; a topping of vegetables, cheese and sauces; and a dressing. The option will cost the same as any other school lunch.
