Front Royal and Shenandoah County collects school supplies

The new school year is fast approaching with many families worried about how to get all the supplies required for a successful school year.
Front Royal announced that there will be collection boxes for those willing to pick up extra supplies for students in need.
Simple items such as pencils, crayons, index cards, even backpacks and more can be dropped off in collection boxes at the Front Royal Visitor Center or Town Hall through August 7.
The Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office announced that they will also be assisting families in need of supplies through their backpack drive.
Families in need of help with supplies in Shenandoah County need to register for assistance by July 31 with the Shenandoah County Social Services office at 540-459-6226.
The backpack program in Shenandoah County is open to homeschooled, private and public-school students Pre-Kindergarten to 12 grades.
