Front Royal Files Suit Against EDA, Jennifer McDonald

26 June 2019 Front Royal/Warren County News

The Town of Front Royal has filed a civil suit against Warren County’s EDA for $3 million.

The civil suit was filed June 21, 2019 by Town Attorney Doug Napier, and is against both the Front Royal-Warren County Economic Development Authority and its former director, Jennifer McDonald. The action came after Front Royal’s Town Council unanimously approved a resolution on June 10,  authorizing the Town Attorney’s Office to take legal action against the EDA and “any other necessary parties to recover all moneys owed or will be owed” to the town. During that same meeting, Interim Mayor Tederick lamented the town’s rebuffed efforts to see a forensic audit conducted by the EDA, despite multiple FOIA requests. He also requested that the dissolution of the EDA be a topic of discussion at the next town-county liaison session.

During Monday’s (6/24/2019) Town Council meeting, Interim Mayor Tederick spoke directly to current EDA current director Doug Parsons before his update to council members, saying “I appreciate not only this situation you find yourself in, but the candor and work ethic that you’ve instituted in trying to remedy the mistakes of the past.”
