FRONT ROYAL – The Front Royal Police Department released an official list of road closures for this Saturday’s Festival of Leaves. Motorists and pedestrians should be on the lookout for signage and detours in the area on Oct. 12.

Beginning at 3 a.m Saturday morning, road closures will go into effect in the area surrounding the festival display and parade route. That area includes Chester St. from Main St. to 2nd St., Main St. from Royal Ave. to Blue Ridge Ave., and all side streets extending from Main St. At 9 a.m that morning, Luray Ave. from Criser Rd. to Kilby Dr. will be closed for the parade line-up. Finally, at 9:40 a.m Royal Ave. from South St. to 4th St. will close.

The parade begins on Luray Ave. It will turn right onto Kilby Dr., which turns into West Stonewall Dr. The parade will eventually turn left on South Royal Ave. Then the route leads the festival parade to East 2nd St. where it will turn right. It finishes at the Government Center parking lot. At the conclusion of the parade, all streets will reopen as normal except for the Festival of Leaves event area.

The Front Royal Police Department recommends that morning and day time travelers make plans in advance before heading towards downtown Front Royal on Oct. 12.
