Front Royal to Perform Happy Creek Clean Up
Front Royal will be performing maintenance and cleanup in the town’s Happy Creek, starting next week.
The town acquired permits from the Virginia Resource Commission and the Army Corps of Engineers to conduct the work, which will take place between East 6th Street and East 8th Street. According to Front Royal Public Works’ Manager of Infrastructure, Steve Scheulen, a buildup of debris and sediment has formed sandbars that are causing the waterway to redirect itself. Some of the biggest clogs have occurred at the low level 8th Street Bridge, and the issue could affect both the bridge and residents living along the stream. Work starts on August 20, 2019, and lasts through September 9, from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.
