Front Royal Police Headquarters Groundbreaking

24 October 2017 News

Front Royal will break ground on their new Front Royal Police headquarters  on Wednesday, November 1st at 2 PM.  Mayor Hollis Tharpe made the announcement near the end of Monday night’s council meeting.  Council approved the long-discussed project at a cost of $10.3-million on October 10th.  The new two-building, 21,000 square-foot design on Kendrick Lane, across the street from the former Avtex site, is projected to accommodate department needs   40 years into the future.   The Front Royal Police Department (FRPD) currently rents the old Sheriff’s Office headquarters from Warren County at a cost of approximately  $4,000 a month.  The Front Royal police moved into that 7000-plus s.f. space in December of  2013.   The FRPD’s Investigations department is already housed in a secondary location due to space constraints.
