Front Royal Town Council Appoints Interim Mayor

30 May 2019 Front Royal/Warren County News

Front Royal’s Town Council has appointed an interim mayor for the town.

The body had 45 days to choose a candidate following former Mayor Hollis Tharpe’s resignation on May 2, 2019. After discussion during a closed session last week, and a 4-2 split vote Tuesday (5/23/2019) night, Council selected Matthew Tederick for the role.

Tederick was one of six candidates who were considered, three of whom were responsive. He’ll become interim mayor when he formally accepts the position and takes the oath of office. Motions to appoint Al Larson to the interim mayor position, and to defer the appointment decision to the Warren County Circuit Court, both failed during Tuesday night’s Town Council meeting.
