8 January 2020 Front Royal/Warren County News

The Front Royal Town Council at its Monday meeting selected Lori Athey Cockrell to fill the seat left vacant upon former Councilman Eugene Tewalt’s mayoral election.

Cockrell was unanimously chosen by the council members present, with Councilwoman Letasha Thompson absent from the meeting. Cockrell was one of the seven applicants the council interviewed during a December closed session.

Cockrell, who was not at the council’s Monday meeting, has been a local teacher for 30 years and is employed at Hilda J. Barbour Elementary School.
