Traffic Delays in Front Royal for LFCC Graduation

11 May 2018 News

Traffic in Front Royal will experience delays for the upcoming weeks including this weekend, according to announcements from the town.

Large traffic delays can be expected as Lord Fairfax Community College’s graduation takes place. The 3rd Annual Family Fun Day & LFCC Graduation at Skyline High School will begin at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow and last until noon. The parade will start at Luray Ave/W. Main Street and travel down Main Street, take a left on Chester Street, and then a right on 2nd Street. Street closures will include: Luray Avenue, W. Main Street, Royal Avenue (from South St. to 4th Street during the parade), E. Main Street, Chester Street, and 2nd Street. Between 9:00 am and noon, the town suggests that all north and south bound through traffic within Front Royal utilize Commerce Avenue to avoid congestion and delays.

Later that day, Lord Fairfax Community College’s graduation will take place at Skyline High School. Graduates are expected to begin arriving at noon for the 2 p.m. ceremony. In the event that the parade closures are still in place by noon, graduates and parents should travel down Commerce Avenue to South Street, then cross back over to S. Royal Ave. to avoid delays. This will alleviate the traffic confusion and congestion in the middle of town.

In addition to these delays, Front Royal residents can expect shoulder and lane closures on Kendrick Lane as the Contractor George & Sons installs a new water line for the new police department site. This will take place from May 16th through May 31st from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.

The Town of Front Royal Water & Sewer Department will also have scheduled night work for Thursday, May 17th, through Friday, May 18th, beginning at 10 p.m. and ending Friday morning at 6 a.m. East 13th Street will be closed from Royal Avenue to Warren Avenue Extended (behind Jalisco’s) for sewer main repairs. Motorists are asked to use caution while driving through this area and to be aware of crews working.
