Front Royal to Vote on “Christkindlmarkt Day”

26 November 2017 News

The Front Royal Town Council will vote on a new holiday this Monday, November 27th, based on its annual Christkindlmarkt festivities.

The Christkindlmarkt event started in 2004, and has since been a seasonal platform for Front Royal vendors to showcase their Christmas wares. The tradition is a tribute to the German heritage shared by much of the town’s citizenry, and creates an influx of shoppers, diners, and lodgers that has long benefited local business owners. Monday’s vote will decide whether or not Saturday, December 2nd is officially deemed “Christkindlmarkt Day” in recognition of the event’s commercial, educational, and cultural importance to the town.
