Front Royal – Warren EDA Hires New Attorney

8 October 2019 Front Royal/Warren County News

October 8, 2019

FRONT ROYAL – The Front Royal – Warren County Economic Development Authority hired a new attorney during last weeks special meeting.

The EDA chose the Woodbridge firm of Greehan, Taves & Pandak for future legal services. The firm specializes in zoning and land use issues, general counsel and civil litigation for localities and public agencies.

The Authority posted a Request for Quotation in September following the departure of former EDA Attorney Dan Whitten. Four firms responded to the request and an Ad Hoc Selection Committee was appointed by the EDA Board of Supervisors to review the submissions. Following reviews, the EDA listed their preferred firms in rank order and Greehan, Taves & Pandak made the top of the list. Sharon Pandak was interviewed by the selection committee last week and an offer was made to accept the terms of her response to the initial RFQ. Details are still being worked out in said deal.

During the special meeting the Economic Development Authority also authorized Sands Anderson to file an amended complaint in the case of Warren County EDA v. Jennifer McDonald. The amended civil complaint filed on Oct. 4 adds defendants to the suit and brings the total amount asked for in damages to $21.3 million.

The EDA board also recently visited the IT Federal Site. The board hoped to learn more about the dispute between the Town of Front Royal and Curt Tran regarding who is responsible for 500 linear feet of storm water drain pipe installation on the property.

The next EDA board meeting is Oct. 11. Assets Management Committee Chair Greg Harold will lead an EDA property tour on that day.
