Gov. Northam allocated $270,000 for five localities to permanently preserve working farmlands.

Funding will permanently preserve working farmland by purchasing the development rights.

The counties that will benefit include Clarke, Fauquier, Albemarle, Stafford Counties and the city of Chesapeake.

Localities interested in doing more to protect their working farms should contact Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) at 804-786-1906.
