Gov. Northam expands vaccination workforce

Gov. Northam has expanded the Virginia vaccination workforce as the state prepares to open Phase 2 and vaccinate more people.
The governor signed bills that includes a new initiative to recruit eligible individuals interested in administering vaccines.
According to his press release Gov. Northam’s order allows for a variety of health care professionals to now administer the COVID-19 vaccine.
Including but not limited to dentists, dental hygienist, veterinarians, optometrists and health professions students enrolled in an accredited Virginia program.
Eligible providers may serve as administrators of vaccine if they have appropriate training and meet supervision requirements.
All COVID-19 vaccine providers are responsible for ensuring that individuals who administer shots ate authorized by law to do so.
Those who wish to volunteer can register at vdh.virginia.gov/covid-19-community-vacciantor.
