Gov. Youngkin issues an update on the mask mandate

Virginia Governor Youngkin issued an update on mask mandates in an email.

The Governor issued alternative mitigation measures to masks.

Those measures emphasized vaccination, distancing and outbreak awareness.

The governor would like to have a clear decision tree for parents to review when trying to determine how to keep and return children to class.

The governor also encouraged  testing to stay in class.

He added that additional strategies should be implemented to keep and return kids to class quickly and contact tracing.

In the meantime Gov. Youngkin urged Virginia parents to listen to their school principles and trust the legal system.

The governor added that he is confident that the Virginia Supreme Court will rule in favor of parents and give back their right to decide.
