Governor Youngkin reports a better than 66 percent labor force

Governor Youngkin announced that over 201,000 Virginians have joined the labor force in the state.

More people are back to work, creating the largest labor force in almost 50 years according to the governor.

The labor force participation is now at 66.6 percent which is the highest rate since January 2013.

The governor noted that Virginia’s unemployment rate fell to its lowest level in nearly a year.

With more Virginians moving back into the work force the unemployment rate declined from 2.9 percent to 2.7 percent for the month of May.

Virginia’s unemployment rate continues to be below the national rate of 3.6 percent with the current 2.7 percent for the month of May.
