Harrisonburg Police arrest 3 in fatal shooting

Oct. 24 around 11 a.m. Harrisonburg Police report responding to a 38-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on Community Street.

Despite immediate treatment by Emergency Medical Personnel the unidentified victim succumbed to his wounds at the scene.

The subsequent investigation revealed that the victim and assailants knew one another, and the incident was a targeted act of violence not a random occurrence.

Three suspects were identified and arrested Oct. 25 in the incident thanks to information provided by citizens.

Thirty-five-year-old Lewis Bailey most recently of Harrisonburg, 20-year-old Jornileyah McCornell and 18-year-old Geneses McCornell both of Penn Lard have all three been charged with acts of violence by a mob resulting in an individual’s death.

The incident remains under investigation and anyone with any additional information should contact the Harrisonburg Police Department.
