Harrisonburg Police investigate shooting that injured 8

Sunday at approximately 2:20 a.m. Harrisonburg Police report responding to a shooting in the 1500 block of Devon Lane.

Witnesses reported shots fired into a gathering near James Madison University.

Eight people were reported hit by shots fired by a suspect or suspects in the incident.

Five of those injured were treated for non life threatening wounds at Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital three others were transported to the University of Virginia.

Police have arrested 20 year old Harrisonburg resident Tyreaf Isaiah Fleming after witnesses identified him as a shooter.

Video evidence confirmed that he was one of the shooters.

Police continue to investigate the incident as another suspect may have also been involved.

The victims of the shooting ranged in age from 18 to 27 years with none suffering life threatening wounds.

None of the injured people were James Madison University students.

Authorities are now asking anyone who attended the gathering to review any video or pictures they may have for any evidence that might be useful to the investigation.
