Harrisonburg Police seek a suspect in jewelry theft

The Harrisonburg Police Department (HPD) report they continue to seek one of three individuals suspected of stealing more than $115,000 in jewelry from the Harrisonburg Kohl’s.

Two of the suspects have been arrested for a similar incident in Alabama.

In early November one of the suspects went behind the unattended Kohl’s Jewelry counter while the other two provided watch and the trio left the store with a bag full of stolen Simply Vera Vera Wang Jewelry.

Harrisonburg Police reviewed surveillance footage and began work with Kohl’s and State and Federal Law Enforcement agencies along the east coast.

Later in November the three suspects burglarized an Alabama Rainbow City Jewelry store and led authorities on a high-speed chase and eventually ended on foot.

Two of the suspects were apprehended then but a third got away.

After consultation with Alabama authorities Harrisonburg Police were able to move forward with the investigation.

Carlos Almarza Plaza of Chile is one who was arrested in the incident.

Karim Jerez Ruquelme and Antonio Berrerra whose vehicle was used in the getaway also face a number of charges.

The third induvial has been identified as Patricio Troncoso and is currently wanted in the investigation.
