Health District Warns of Rabid Fox in Quicksburg

The Lord Fairfax Health District is warning the Northern Shenandoah Valley of another fox-related rabies incident, this time in Shenandoah County.

The LFHD sent a release on Friday (5/31/2019) notifying the public of a rabid red fox that was discovered in the 200 block of Solomon’s Church Road in Quicksburg on Monday, May 27th. The fox tested positive for rabies, and is known to have interacted with at least two dogs in the area. The health district is advising that anyone who was bitten, scratched, or otherwise exposed to the saliva from a red fox in this area around May 27, 2019 should seek care at the nearest emergency department immediately.
