Hearing Scheduled for Workforce Housing Project
A public hearing will be held on a proposed workforce housing project in Frederick County.
The 200 single-family homes would be built by Mississippi-based developer Equity Plus LLC between Route 37 and Apple Valley Road at the intersection of Middle Road. They would range from two to four bedrooms in size, and be intended for those with an annual household income between $35,000 and $55,000.
Starting the project would require amending the county’s Comprehensive Plan to allow the industrially-zoned land to be used for the residential development, and rezoning the land afterwards. Supervisors’ decision last Wednesday (4/10/2019) to send the matter to public hearing goes against a recommendation from the Planning Commission in March. The hearing is scheduled for May 1st at 7 p.m. in the County Administration building.
