Hike Kidz Foundation brings Boxes of Basics to Warren County

The Hike Kidz Foundation announced a partnership with Boxes of Basics on Wednesday to bring their services to children in Warren County and Front Royal.

Boxes of Basics provides new and gently used clothing, shoes, books, and toys to children in need.

Through this partnership, Hike Kidz Foundation along with support from Social Services, Family Promise, Warren County Public School’s Project HOPE, and School Resource Officers can now connect children in the community to Boxes of Basics for support.

During the announcement, 50 boxes were unloaded for the first 50 children in Warren County and Front Royal in the program, and each box was specifically packed with the recipient in mind to include well-fitting clothing and age appropriate books or toys.

The Hike Kidz Foundation also presented a check for $2,500 to Boxes of Basics to show support for the first load of boxes.

To date, Boxes of Basics has distributed over 8,500 boxes to children primarily in Northern Virginia including Prince William, Fauquier and Fairfax counties as well as Manassas and Manassas Park.

This is the organization’s first expansion into the Shenandoah Valley.

To help support the mission, donation boxes are in place around the community including Brickhouse Bar and Grill, Hike Construction, and the Royal Plaza Shopping Center.

In addition to helping local children, the sustainable program has also kept over 29,000 pounds of clothing out of landfills.
