Hornets pitcher drafted by Nationals

The Washington Nationals have drafted Shenandoah University’s Phil Morse, Jr. in the 14th round of the major league baseball draft.
Morse reported to the Nationals training camp in Florida, and could start his professional baseball career with either the Auburn (NY) Doubledays, a short-season Class A team in the NY-Penn League; or the Hagerstown (Md) Suns, a Class A team in the South Atlantic League.
Morse, is 6’2” and 185 pounds. In 22 appearances with the Shenanhoah “Hornets,” he went 5-0, with an Earned Run Average of 0.88 and 26 strikeouts as the team’s co-captain in 2016.
He is a native of Vienna, Virginia, and graduated from McLean High School.
