Hornets womens soccer ranked third in pre-season poll

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women’s soccer team is picked to finish third in the ODAC women’s soccer race based on poll results released Wednesday morning by the league office.

Shenandoah, which finished second in the 2015 standings after posting a best-ever 9-1-1 ODAC record, has 108 points in the 2016 preseason poll to grab the third spot.

Defending champion Lynchburg is picked first with 142 points and 11 first-place votes while Washington and Lee holds the No. 2 position thanks to 131 points and one first-place vote.

SU is two points clear of No. 4 Virginia Wesleyan.

Voting was done on a 12-1 basis with coaches unable to vote for their own teams in the poll.

Coach Liz Pike‘s team opens on September 1 at Franklin and Marshall. The ODAC opener is September 24 versus Washington and Lee.
