Hotels offering free or discounted rooms to medical workers
Several hotel chains are lending their assistance to those on the front lines with free or discounted rooms. Many health care providers have been reluctant to stay at home, not wanting to take the chance of infecting their loved ones. Additionally, with the stay-at-home orders, many hotel rooms are going empty, making this a great opportunity.
Health care providers are advised to contact hotels directly to see if they are participating. Alternatively, the American Hotel and Lodging Association, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has launched the Hospitality for Hope initiative, a database of hotels across the country providing free or discounted rooms.
Several hotel chains in the area are confirmed to be participating, though individual hotels may vary on what they offer:
- Hawkeye Hotels
- IHG Hotels and Resorts
- Wyndham Hotels and Resorts
- Marriott International
- Red Roof
