Jim Barnett Park Pool Delays Opening

The opening of the outdoor pool in Winchester’s Jim Barnett Park has been delayed yet again. It was originally announced that the pool would open on June 2, 2018 instead of Memorial Day Weekend; now, according to a news release, resurfacing of the pool by an outside contractor has pushed that date back even farther.
Winchester Communications Director Amy Simmons was quoted as apologizing for the inconvenience, but asserted that “the work is necessary to maintain a quality pool.” Winchester residents trying to cool down over the long weekend can visit Frederick County’s outdoor public pools at Clearbrook and Sherando parks in the meantime; those will be open Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Swimming will cost $1 on Saturday, and $4 on Sunday and Memorial Day.
