Laurel Ridge Community College Educational Foundation announced by email that they have received an $8,500 grant from the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation.

The funds will support the Single Stop initiative which connects students with programs at the local, state and federal levels for several services.

Those services for Laurel Ridge Community College students include free 24/7 tele-mental health service from organizations like Single Stop and TimelyCare.

The funding will also help expand the college textbook lending library.

The funding will also help with emergency aid capability for assisting with urgent housing, transportation and childcare needs for students at Laurel Ridge Community College.

Almost 10,000 students in the Virginia Community College System have struggled with those needs.

So far over $21 Million in benefits have helped students in the Virginia Community College System this year alone.
