Local law enforcement participate in Drug Take Back Day

Local law enforcement including the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office are partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day today from 10 am to 2 pm.
The goal of the initiative is to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible way of disposing of prescription drugs while also educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications.
It is estimated that over 107,000 die of a drug overdose each year and removing unwanted medication is one step you can take to help.
Last year, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office collected more than 720,000 pounds of unwanted medication during the one day event.
