Local Transportation Projects to Receive Funding

26 June 2019 Winchester Frederick County News

After a vote last week, the Commonwealth Transportation Board has officially allocated money to fund local transportation projects.

As part of its 2020-2025 Six Year Improvement Plan, $13 million worth of funding will go to the projects. Over $5 million was allocated to replace the Millwood Pike Bridge, $3.2 will go to extend I-81’s Exit 317 ramps, and over $1.2 million will improve Winchester traffic signals on Valley Avenue, Gerrard Street, and the intersection of Millwood and Kent. The improvement program also funds projects that didn’t go through Virginia Smart Scale, including I-81 ramp extensions at Exits 304 and 302, and upgrades to a CSX rail crossing at Route 664 in the Stephenson area.
