Luray High School Student Competes in Shenandoah Valley Regional Science

Patrick Graybeal of Luray High School competed at the Shenandoah Valley Region Science Fair at James Madison University on Tuesday, March 7th. He investigated the length of the digits in a perfect root, given different roots, number bases and lengths of original numbers. No record can be found of anyone else in the world exploring this topic. He received a silver medal in the Mathematics/Computer Science category and the Mu Alpha Theta Award which is given to the most challenging, thorough, and creative investigation of a problem involving mathematics accessible to high school students.
