Multi-Vehicle Route 7 Accident Seriously Injures One
A multi-vehicle crash on Route 7 in Clarke County injured one person Tuesday morning.
The incident began when the driver of a 2015 Kia Rio 5 traveling westbound on Route 7 became distracted by a roadside incident caused by a tire blowout; that caused him to strike the rear of a 2015 Toyota RAV 4 at around 10 a.m., less than a mile east of River Road. The KIA to come to a rapid stop after that collision, and was struck from behind by a 2001 Ford F250 pickup truck. According to a statement from the Virginia State Police, the Kia’s driver, 19-year-old Mark E. Moger, was seriously injured during the crash and taken to the Winchester Medical Center. He and the driver of the truck, 46-year-old John F. Copsey of Martinsburg, were both charged with following too close.
