Natural Bridge Zoo animal seizure trial ends Fri. Jan. 12

Closing arguments in the seizure of animals case involving Natural Bridge Zoo is expected to end today, Friday, January 12.

On January 10 the defense rested their case in the Natural Bridge Zoo seizure hearing.

The hearing will determine whether the 96 animals seized by the Attorney General’s office will be returned to the zoo.

According an ABC news report the witnesses that were called during the trial spoke on the conditions of the animals.

Many of the expert witnesses testified that the animals looked to be healthy even though the animals were viewed only by way of photos and lab results.

The commonwealth would not allow the expert witnesses to view the animals in person.

Meanwhile, witnesses for the prosecution testified that the animals were kept in filthy conditions with improper diets.
