New Arrests Made in 2017 Clarke County Murder Case

18 July 2019 Winchester Frederick County Clarke County News

The Clarke County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday (7/17/2019) that it has made arrests in an over two-year-old murder case.

William Todd Anderson was murdered in his Blue Ridge Mountain Road residence in the county on March 27, 2017. He was allegedly killed for refusing to give three men who broke into his home the combination to his safe; according to an affidavit in the case, a woman staying with Anderson at the time claimed they were both duct taped to chairs, and that the intruders stole money and drugs. Now, after a multi agency investigation that included law enforcement from Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland, three men have been arrested: Blank Munk of Baltimore, William Freeman of Berryville, and William Smallwood of Boyce. All face multiple charges including felony robbery, and Munk and Freeman face a charge of murder as well.

The Sheriff’s Office is still looking for Michael Ivory Curry of Summit Point, West Virginia, to ask him about his possible involvement. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Sergeant Patricia Putnam at 540-955-1234 or Winchester/Frederick/Clarke Crime Solvers at 540-665-8477.
