New CEO chosen to lead Top of Virginia Regional Chamber

Winchester – The Top of Virginia Regional Chamber announces that Richard Kennedy has been chosen as the organization’s next Chamber Executive Officer. He begins his position on October 3, 2016. Kennedy was selected out of a very competitive pool of over 50 applicants chosen by a search committee of the board and then interviewed by the executive committee with opportunities for input from both the Board of Directors and Chamber staff.
From 2010 to 2013 Kennedy was the Chief Executive Officer for the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce in in San Diego County, CA where he is still credited for making that organization the “go-to” organization for local business in North County San Diego.
For the past two years Richard has been the fiscal manager for Apple Country Head Start that provides education for 3 and 4 year-old children for low income families in the Winchester, Frederick County, and Clarke County areas. During Richard’s career, he has held financial positions ranging from CFO to Controller to Financial Analyst in various industries such as Computer Manufacturing, Banking, Transportation, and Staffing.
Kennedy has a BS in business administration from Grand Canyon College and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
Richard has also been very active in the communities where he and his wife have lived in participating on various city commissions, school bond oversight and United Way audit committees. He is also an avid tennis and golf enthusiast.
