New Market man faces several charges in vehicular assault

The Waynesboro Police Department (WPD) reports the arrest of a man after assault with a vehicle August 4.

The WPD responded to a restaurant on Lucy Lane where a 42-year-old female and a minor child were struck in the parking lot.

Officers discovered a domestic dispute had ended up in the parking lot.

The woman left the vehicle and the man took control and struck the woman leaving her injured.

The child with the woman was left uninjured, but the woman had to be transported to the hospital for her injuries.

After the incident the driver of the vehicle who was identified as 35-year-old, Gary Beavers, of New Market left the scene.

Beavers was tracked to New Market and arrested by New Market Police.

Beavers faces seven charges in all including several charges of malicious wounding with intent to maim or kill.

Among the charges Beavers faces is grand larceny of a motor vehicle and driving revoked.

Beavers is currently being held at the Rappahannock Shenandoah Warren Regional Jail without bond.
