New Market Resident Killed in Christmas Eve Dispute

A New Market resident was shot and killed early this week in Maryland. Roger Allen Bruce, 66, lost his life in a father-son dispute on Christmas Eve, according to a news release from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:04 p.m., December 24th at Bruce’s son’s residence in Colton’s Point. According to police, Roger Bruce discharged a firearm at his son Michael, 45, who returned fire and fatally wounded him. The father died from his injuries at the scene. No charges have been filed, and the case remains active.
