Northam signs executive order to ensure liability protections for health care workers
Due to COVID-19, public and private health care providers are operating with limited resources and may be forced to serve patients outside of conventional standards of care. Virginia’s code offers protection to health care workers and first responders in cases of emergency and this order clarifies these statues protect those operating during the COVID-19 crisis. Nothing in the order prevents liability in the case of gross negligence or willful misconduct.
