The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed that a possible four tornadoes touched down in West Virginia during the July 21 storms.

Inspection teams were able to observe some structural damage, but the bulk of the damage involved twisted and uprooted trees in Pendleton County near Seneca Rocks.

Multidirectional tree damage was seen in High View where large trees were uprooted and limbs snapped in 5100 block off Route 23.

This damage was consistent with rotation signatures related to tornadic winds according to the state report.

The National Weather Service in Charleston was able to confirm two tornadoes touched down that same day in the Pleasants County area.

It was confirmed that those storms were classified as EF-2 causing significant damage to homes and structures along a ridgetop in the Saint Mary’s and Belmont communities.

A tornado in the Troublesome Valley area crossed the state line into Rockingham County Virginia before dispersing.
