Outdoor burning law goes into effect

Virginia state law is in effect that limits outdoor burning.

From Feb. 15 through Apr. 30 outdoor burning is prohibited during daytime hours.

Outdoor burning is only permitted between 4 p.m. and midnight to reduce the risk of wind carrying burning embers.

Before starting an outdoor fire it’s recommended that you inform your local authorities let them know you are burning in case the fire gets out of control.
