Our conversation for Extension Office Friday with Vanessa Santiago, Frederick County Extension Agent centered around the 2021 Northern Shenandoah Valley Water Testing Clinics that will be offered in October. She gave us all the details:

How does it work? 1. Pick up a sample kit at the designated location for your county. 2. Participate in the live Kick-Off Session via Zoom. 3. Collect samples on designated date, and drop them off at the designated location for your county. 4. Samples are analyzed at Virginia Tech. 5. Participate in the in-person Results Meeting to help you understand your results. At the meeting, you will receive your confidential results and information about addressing any problems.

What does the water test include? Iron, Manganese, Sulfate, Hardness, Sodium, Copper, Nitrate, Arsenic, Fluoride, pH, Total Dissolved Solids, Coliform bacteria, E. coli bacteria, & Lead.

How much does it cost? $60 per sample kit. Financial Scholarships Available: Cost reduction to $10 per sample kit is available for those who have an annual household income of $50,000 or less. When is the deadline? Registration and payment is required by Monday, October 11 – space is limited!
