Camping for Hunger Day 5: Nadine with United Way of NSV
16 November 2018
We were broadcasting live from the Camping for Hunger bus on our final day with Nadine Pottinga, Executive Director for the United Way of Northern Shenandoah Valley. We talked about the ALICE population (Asset Limited Income Contrained Employed) and the important role food banks play in making ends meet in their daily lives. Nadine also told us about her experience last week as she and several staff members undertook ALICE Awareness Week challenges that included living on the SNAP food budget ($4.50/day); the ALICE food budget ($5.40/day) as well as the transportation and clothing challenges.
